V-LINE China celebrating the German National Day at the German Embassy in Beijing

Beijing, China, 10/09/2008

A 100 person business delegation from Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) lead by Prime Minister Christian Wulff was co- hosting a belated Beijing celebration of the German National Day (October 3rd) due to the Chinese vacation week during that time.

“This is a fantastic networking opportunity with many of our Chinese business partners” said Detlev Daues, V-LINE CEO who arrived two days prior from a trade mission along the U.S. westcoast. “I am very thankful to our Prime Minister Christian Wulff and our Ambassador Michael Schaefer, as well as the sponsor Audi/Volkswagen, for creating such an active platform to support business for us small and medium size companies.

Prof. Lindu Zhao who is teaching the V-LINE MRO supply chain model as a business case at the Southeast University in Nanjing came all the way from Nanjing to participate. “This is a good chance to meet an old friend from Germany who bridged the relationship between the Southeast University Nanjing and the Leibniz University Hanover” said Prof. Zhao. “I have just been at a seven days logistics conference at the Leibniz University and we have several global projects with Prof. Dr. Schulze thanks to Turgay Temur, Logistics Manager of V-LINE EUROPE,who introduced us in 2004, when six of my students where working at V-LINE in Sehnde to write the business case.”

Prior to the celebration a small group of the business delegation had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Jian Xu, VP Strategy & Corporate Development and Dr. Yufeng Liu, the General Secretary of Volkswagen (China) Investment Co., LTD to learn about the Olympic program initiated by Volkswagen Group in China in 2005. This was a major restructuring program that started with the positioning of new car models according to lifestyle groups in China and extended to an effort of massive cost cutting through process alignment and localisation.

“This was a fine opportunity to introduce the V-LINE Total Procurement Cost Saving Plan for MRO (Maintenance Repair and Operation) Supply “said V-LINE CEO Detlev Daues. “ This is an area of cost cutting potential for China joint ventures both managers agreed and Cui Tao, GM of V-LINE China will spearhead a follow-up exploration” Mr. Daues said.
