Minister Jörg Bode and delegation visit V-LINE Saudi Arabia Ltd in Jubail on Niedersachsen trailblazer Gulf States Trade Mission

Jubail, Saudi Arabia, 11/01/2010

Last week Niedersachsen Minister for Economics, Labour and Transport Jörg Bode and a delegation of the state’s business executives visited V-LINE SAUDI ARABIA Ltd. in Jubail during a trade mission tour to the Gulf Region.

“It is an honor to welcome HE The Minister at our branch office here in Jubail,” declared Shahzad Haider, General Manager of V-LINE SAUDI ARABIA Ltd. “After more than 25 years operating in the Kingdom we underlined our serious commitment by this local investment of establishing a subsidiary and we are happy to share our experience here with the Niedersachsen business community.”
The delegation visited the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to further develop economic relationships between Niedersachsen and the Gulf States and for profiling the region as a business investment location.
In Jubail, the Minister was very pleased with dialogues at Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and at the Royal Commission, the economic development organization of Jubail. The representatives of Landesinitiative Logistik (LNC) and Deutsche Management Akademie Niedersachsen (DMAN) used the visit to introduce Niedersachsen as a European logistics center of excellence and to present their organizations’ individually tailored programs for education of Arab executives.
Abdulrahman Al Dalaan, General Manager of SABIC Global Procurement told the group: “For us V-LINE is more than a supplier, we rate them as a strategic partner and preferred supplier for future MRO service models at SABIC. This meeting is an example of their commitment to share best practices with us.”
Minister Bode’s 40-person delegation was highly impressed by the industrial city Jubail; and the realization of the vision of its Royal Commission thirty years ago to build a state-of-the-art infrastructure adjustable to all kinds of expansion and technology change.
Further city-stops during the tour were Abu Dhabi, Doha and Manama, as this trade mission underlined Niedersachsen’s targeted goal of taking a leading role among the German states regarding their external relationships to the countries of Arabia.  Looking forward - a number of avenues of cooperation are seen: especially in areas of renewable energy, logistics, trade fair business, services and expansion of infrastructure; as well as in research and production  in the field of CFRP, carbon fibre reinforced plastics.
Detlev Daues, Managing Director of the V-LINE Group and a participant of the trade mission tour said of his feelings “It has been a real pleasure to share our experiences over the last 30 years with colleagues of our state Niedersachsen and I thank my good friends in the kingdom for their overwhelming hospitality and never-ending challenges to adapt our service portfolio to their steady changing needs.”
