Bigger, better, faster: V-LINE’s newest enhancement conveys a completely new and modern feel within the warehouse in Sehnde.
At the end of last year, V-LINE EUROPE's warehouse was redesigned to raise efficiency and support the colleagues by optimizing the workflows. In order to do so, the new part of the warehouse was divided into two areas: parcels and boxes on the one side, pallets on the other. “The new layout allows us to make better use of the available space”, states Dirk Schütte, Warehouse Manager in Sehnde.
The biggest game changer: the brand-new 87-meters-long conveyance system. 400 rollers and 52 meters conveyor belt transport parcels along the process chain from delivery to provision. For example, after inspection, a scanner automatically decides whether the parcel is to be stored or to be packed and transports it to the appointed location. V-LINE's own roller coaster has been in operation since December 7th 2020 and reduces crossing flows of goods and walking routes. “From beginning to launch the total redesign took only two months. This was only made possible due to the dynamic involvement and dedication of our own employees.”, explains Dirk Schütte and adds: “Besides the optimized work flows, we also successfully enhanced the working conditions for our colleagues: Fewer and more efficient walking routes also mean less physical strain.”
The redesign is part of V-LINE’s constant analysis of processes - whether in sales, logistics or warehouse – in order to achieve continuous improvement. The future-oriented investment into the warehouse is yet another step into this direction.
